This central Middlesbrough practice is sited within the Mall Middlesbrough. The GP partners (three female; two male) and our Management Partner are interested and actively involved in the training programme. The practice team is supportive and also assists where appropriate.

The health centre was designed in the 1970s and the premises have recently been refurbished and extended to help cope with demands of modern-day practice and expanding practice team.

We were computerized in 1989 and have had several upgrades in Vision, a Windows based system with which we have moved to a note-less computerized consultation and appointments system. Library facilities are available with full access to web based learning and information.

Our practice team includes a nursing team with a full range of nursing skills led by our nurse practitioner; their role in service provision is continually being developed. We also have counsellors and a midwife, addictions nurse and dietician have clinics within the practice.

Partners interests are varied and include medical politics locally and nationally, cardiology, rheumatology, women’s health, terminal care and work with Medical Services. Two partners are involved in undergraduate teaching. Two partners have developed their special interests in Comprehensive Sexual Health Services and have PBC commissioned clinics within the practice. Another partner will soon be providing a Community Heart Failure Assessment Clinic.

We aim to provide appropriate access in a high demand area but at the same time to maintain quality whole-person care and a tolerable workload.

Under the new contract we have opted out of “Out of Hours”, but supervised “Out of Hours Sessions” are arranged by the Scheme with Prime-care. We support our registrars in achieving competency in out of hours and emergency care.
