Skelton is a semi-rural village situated between the
picturesque North York Moors and the rugged East
Coast. The practice area includes the villages of
Boosbeck, Lingdale and Brotton – originally mining
villages, and Moorsholm, a farming community. We
operate a fully computerised dispensing branch
surgery in the outlying village of Lingdale, from
which we provide a daily service. We have GP beds at
East Cleveland Hospital where we also cover the
casualty unit. Out of hours cover is provided by
Primecare but we will organise a number of shifts
where you will work with Dr Lavelle ensuring that
COGPED criteria are met in relation to out of hours
experience.
We are a democratic 7 partner (6wte) practice with a
list size of 11,050. We have recently moved to a new
purpose built health centre with views across
Saltburn to the North Sea. We have on site the local
pharmacist and optician as well as many other
members of the Primary Health care Team.
We are an established, committed teaching practice
being part of the Cleveland Scheme for many years.
We are also involved with undergraduate teaching of
medical students from Newcastle University. The
practice ethos is best summed up by the phrase
‘family centred medicine’. We enjoy a good spirit
running through the practice, with the welfare of
