This is a six partner, innovative, town centre practice in modern purpose built; leasehold premises completed December 1999. The list size is approximately 11,500. We have achieved the Investors in People award, and scored highly in the Quality and Outcomes framework (>1000 points).

The practice is well equipped and fully computerised. There is a practice manager and a full compliment of attached staff including three practice nurses who run asthma, COPD, hypertension, diabetes and other clinics. One nurse is also trained as a nurse practitioner and we have two nurse prescribers. There is an employed counsellor and attached CPN, midwives, physiotherapist and health visitors.

Dr Boggis is a Course Organiser and trainer. The practice also has links with undergraduate teaching (Dr White) and has had pre-registration house officer attachments and career start doctors. We are an approved Research Practice

The on-call commitment for GP registrars is one day per week from 7.45am until 6.00 pm with Primecare/PCT cover in the intervening hours. As the practice has opted out of providing out of hours care, OOHs sessions for GP Registrars are undertaken with Primecare. Registrars need to arrange these session with Primecare directly.

The partners have a range of interests including dermatology, family planning, audit, computing, sports medicine and general practice research. The practice is keen to promote personal development as a means of continuing medical education and there is an active program of peer appraisal and regular educational events in the practice, which the GPR is encouraged to join. Time is protected in the working week for educational activities including preparation for summative assessment and the MRCGP and our GPRs enjoy a high success rate.
