This established and progressive Practice is situated in Darlington, a market town with a varied population. The Practice has been involved in teaching GP Registrars and medical students for many years. There are 11 partners serving a practice population of 14,000 patients with most partners providing specialist services externally including dermatology, psychiatry, rheumatology, young persons sexual health clinic and ultra sound. One of the partners is Deputy Lead Training Programme Director for Tees Valley VTS. Although this is a busy urban practice, the doctors and staff work hard to maintain a light-hearted working atmosphere within Denmark Street, which creates an ideal place to work. There is a daily coffee break at 10am every day that involves every member of the practice team and is always a place to bash out any grumbles and be subjected to Dr Potter’s joke repertoire!! The practice has numerous social events and away days to allow teambuilding and most Registrars will come away from their time at Denmark Street having thoroughly enjoyed their time at the Practice.

The Practice is in the unique position of training up to four registrars at any time offering the opportunity for registrars to learn from each other and support each other during their attachment. Registrars have their own room and PC in modern premises with excellent video facilities, which are situated to allow easy access to their trainer. There is an up to date library covering most aspects of General Practice and easy access to online sources of information. All partners at the Practice are committed to supporting registrars in their training and there will be an opportunity to take part in practice meetings. The working week includes protected tutorial time within the Practice and Half Day Release. Registrars will have regular experience on-call with the Duty Doctor for emergency appointments. Out of hours experience for the Registrar will be arranged through the scheme and complies with the training and supervision required for nMRCGP.

Opportunity exists to spend time with other members of the primary health care team at regular multi-disciplinary meetings and by sitting in during the Induction fortnight. The practice also boasts the Quality Practice Award (2006 - 2011) – this was the second time the Royal College of General Practitioners had recognised the quality care provided by the practice.
