The practice is based in the town of Peterlee,
working from modern, state of the art premises.
There is another well-equipped surgery in the local
ex-mining village of Easington Colliery.
The practice is computerised with a link between the
premises, and paperless. The primary health care
team has been greatly expanded to include a
psychologist, social worker and many others.
As of October 2004 the responsibility for out of
hours care was taken over by Easington PCT. This is
a nurse-led service with doctor back up. At this
time all GPRs are expected to have experience of
some out of hours work. The GPR will therefore be
expected to undertake occasional out of hours
sessions (a minimum of 36 hrs per 6 months in
practice). This will be done in Easington with Dr
Anderson.
Dr Anderson is a VTS Course Organiser and an
ex-Cleveland GP Registrar. The partners have a
variety of personal interests including, computing,
gardening, music reading, and bringing up children.
This is a very innovative, busy practice, but
generally rewarding with a good level of patient
contact with chronic and acute disease to manage.
We run an Advanced Access Appointment System, are
still a GMS practice and employ a ‘Spanish Doctor’
and two other part time GP.This page was
