Yarm Medical Centre serves approximately 12,650
patients in an attractive market town in Stockton.
We cover the leafy suburban areas of Yarm and
Eaglescliffe as well as some villages in rural North
Yorkshire.
We are a friendly practice of three men and four
women: Dr Neil Reynolds, Dr Sally Bastiman, Dr
Alison Bonavia, Dr Carol Donne, Dr Philip Dillon, Dr
Paul Mulcrone and Dr Zoe Barron. Many were
home-grown on the Tees Valley (or Cleveland as it
was then) VTS. We enjoy daily informal exchange of
information over coffee as well as regular
educational and business meetings.
We have a good team of nurses: one nurse
practitioner, two practice nurses and two treatment
room nurses. Attached staff include two counsellors
(CBT offered), two physios and a dietician. We offer
nurse led clinics in cardiovascular disease, COPD,
hypertension and sexual health, and hold weekly
Baby, Diabetic and Well Woman clinics. (at the
latter coils can be fitted).
There is a strong emphasis on training in the
practice. Undergrad teaching of all years, first to
fifth, is long established. Since 2003 we have been
a GP training practice. We have two trainers (AB and
CD) and one in embryo.
We are paperlight and use EMIS.
Dr Reynolds, our senior partner, has been the GP
advisor/coordinator of the highly successful
Palliative Care Diploma at Teesside University. The
practice has monthly meetings to co-ordinate
palliative care with Macmillan staff and District
nurses.
Though North Tees PCT provide OOH cover, we do offer
extended hours with partners doing surgeries on a
rota basis on Tuesday evenings and Saturday
mornings.
